Good news! San Diego County residents and businesses have until June 17 to file and pay their taxes for their 2023 tax returns. The IRS and shortly after the California Franchise Tax Board announced the relief on Tuesday for areas affected by severe flooding in 2024. The extension includes the following:
Federal and state income tax returns and payments normally due on April 15.
2023 contributions to IRAs and health savings accounts for eligible taxpayers
2024 estimated federal and state tax payments that were previously due April 15
Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns that were previously due on Jan. 31 and April 30
Calendar-year partnership and S corporation returns normally due on March 15
Calendar-year corporation and fiduciary returns and payments normally due on April 15
Calendar-year tax-exempt organization returns normally due on May 15
The extension is automatically granted to taxpayers with addresses in the disaster area, which includes San Diego County. If you need an additional tax-filing extension, beyond June 17, 2024, the IRS urges you to request it electronically by April 15, 2024.
